This summer vacation appeared to be very interesting and enjoyable for two members of MIKS organization that took part in a training course within the Youth in Action Programme.
Alyona and Oksana were invited to participate in the Training course “Snoeze and Paint” organized in Czech Republic in Uherske Hradiste. The course was held from the 17th June to the 23th June in Centre Akropolis. The aim of the course was to get knowledge of Snoezelen activities and painting techniques which can be used for the work with children, youth, people with fewer opportunities and disabilities. 23 participants from Czech Republic, Ukraine, Turkey, Ireland and Lithuania were trained in the form of non formal education methods. The working language was English.
The participants lived in the comfortable hotel located not far from the centre. The programme was full of different activities and events so the participants got acquainted with particular art techniques such as encaustic, 3D painting and stencils workshop. They were taught to draw pictures with the help of wax and special irons, to make design T-shirts, to paint real 3D pictures in groups. They learnt a lot about innovations of snoezelen environment (a therapy for people with autism or developmental disabilities) and felt relaxed in snoezelen rooms of the centre.
Akropolis is an interesting family centre and its main purpose is to provide education, training and leisure activities for children, young people and adults. It is a friendly, open and dynamic organization focused on people’s needs. The Akropolis team consists of employees and volunteers. These people are very friendly and open-minded and they took care of all participants during the whole week.
In the free time the group went sightseeing in Uherske Hradiste that was a marvelous town with beautiful architecture. They did some shopping, relaxed in cozy cafes and even had fun in the aqua park. Our members made friends with the whole group and exchanged international experience.
When our members came home, they were happy and full of emotions and ideas. They got both so much pleasure and experience that they can share with others. Nowadays they are working on a project for Dneprodzergynsk orphan house where they are going to use the information and skills they have learnt during the course.
MIKS organisation is very grateful to Akropolis team for useful knowledge and experiеnce and we hope that this work will be helpful.
